I’m tired and angry

I’m tired and stressed and angry. More to come if I get the energy to document it.

about me.

i am an american and my name is brooke. i am engaged to be married to a palestinian-jordanian man who lives in the baqa'a refugee camp, outside of amman. i recently orally defended my phd dissertation in educational technology and will do my re-writes from jordan.

i don't speak arabic, but i can learn it. i'm not muslim, but i don't mind wearing abayas and hijabs. i fell in love with the palestinian people in 2008. in 2011 i met a palestinian-jordanian woman who felt like a long lost sister, so i went to visit her. my fiance saw me on a visit to baqa'a, which is near my sister's home. i got back to america, heard that he had proposed, and i said yes.

so. marriage at 39. to a man i know is very good and kind. doing it the palestinian way. moving to a new country that is LOUD. i'm quiet. living in a refugee camp. it's a whole new life and these are my thoughts about it all.

we must save the world.
